"Irresistible...a wholly original, read-in-one-sitting, slingshot story of self-exploration and ambition." -- Katy Hays, New York Times bestselling author
Betti Farrell doesn't want a divorce, she wants a do-over. Rick Farrell just wants his wife back.
Once a promising filmmaking team, they're now parents to three-year-old twins, and somewhere between preschool pickups and impossible compromises, the partnership that once defined them has completely unraveled. Betti can't shake the feeling that she lost the version of herself she was meant to become. Rick isn't looking for another life--he wants to fix the one they've built together. Enter the enigmatic Dr. Helene Vos, whose whispered success in saving marriages draws Betti like a magnet. The remedy Dr. Vos proposes, a proprietary blend of psychology and physics, is extraordinary and experimental: for seven days, Betti and Rick will inhabit the lives that they would have lived if they never had the children. For Betti, it's the chance to see who she might have been, if she'd made different choices. For Rick, it's the last chance to save the marriage to the woman he loves. But this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes with a stern warning: at exactly 2:00 p.m. the following Tuesday, Betti and Rick must return to Dr. Vos' office location together - or they will stay in their parallel world forever.
And Rick is fearful Betti might like what she sees when they cross over. He should be...
Darkly funny, emotionally raw, and relentlessly suspenseful, Two of Us is a provocative novel about marriage, ambition, and the impossible allure of the life not lived.
