The body of work in the book is a photo project by MarieVic. It was shot in New York City during election week 2020. The work records a sign of the times: when across U.S., city storefronts boarded up ahead of election in anticipation of the violence that could result. Plywood window coverings blanketed the high-end shopping strip, an eerie sight for stores whose extroverted glassed windows are meant to speak a language of enticement.
