Turn the Gem

John Emery is a former pastor turned entrepreneur, brand strategist, and startup advisor. He is a musician, songwriter, designer, painter, poet, and athlete-an unapologetic aspiring renaissance man, with a reverence for life. He's the founder of Emery, a brand consultancy for companies at inflection points, where he and his team help leaders navigate the high-stakes moments when an organization's identity no longer matches its reality.John's career has spanned pulpits, boardrooms, concerts, and campfires. His clients range from bootstrapping founders to global icons like Paul McCartney's nonprofit, podcasters Rich Roll and Mark Hyman, and yoga icon Adriene Mishler. He's known for guiding influential leaders through brand evolutions with equal parts soul and strategy-and for being trusted with the confessions they'd never let the public see.He lives on the southern coast of Maine with his wife, Elyse, and their three kids. Whether he's encouraging a founder, throwing paint on a canvas, or skateboarding with his kids, John seems to always be chasing the same thing: moments that feel deeply human and unmistakably alive.Turn the Gem is his second book. His first, Sacred Silly, is a love letter to the playful, curious, wholehearted life he's still learning to live.
