Lyric and narrative by turns, the poems in True Forensics are stitched through by a search for significance in the particular — at a train station, draining a radiator, eating chips, metal-detecting, or in the vertigo of jet-lag.
This sense of immanence just beyond reach is pursued through themes of family, memory, history, illness and recovery, travel and exploration. Ken Evans casts a steady, sombre eye over the everyday with care, candour and lightness. Praised by Daljit Nagra and Deborah Alma, this questioning debut collection announces a tender, forensic new voice.
