Notă biografică
Dayton Ann Williams, MSW, MHPS, CBEC is a veteran advocate, author, certified Mental Health Peer Specialist, and speaker. A former Senior Project Manager at IBM, she left a distinguished corporate career following the death of her eldest son, Sgt Tyrell Seth Williams, USMC, to devote herself to the work that truly mattered - walking alongside others in their darkest moments. She holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Direct Practice in Mental Health and Substance Misuse from the University of Texas at Arlington, earned at age sixty-nine as part of her own healing journey following a traumatic brain injury. Her thesis, Converging and Diverging Outcomes of Posttraumatic Growth (PTG) and Posttraumatic Depreciation (PTD) in Combat Veterans: A Case Study, was born from her own hardest question: how do we grow from what breaks us?She is the author of Dragonflies: New Beginnings for Healing from Grief and Loss (Second Edition, 2026), Dragonflies: New Beginnings The Complete Workbook (Second Edition, 2026), and Through the Grief: A Mother's Journey (Second Edition, 2026). The Complete Workbook was originally developed for her work with Hospice, where she was privileged to facilitate journaling workshops for bereaved mothers at the annual Mothers' Memories Retreat - a sacred weekend gathering in Galveston, Texas, where she was honored to be the only outside facilitator invited to hold space. In honor of Tyrell, she established the Sgt Tyrell Seth Williams, USMC Endowed Scholarship at the University of Texas at Austin, where each year a veteran is chosen to "sit in Ty's" place. All royalties are assigned directly to the scholarship. At the heart of everything Dayton does is a simple belief: we were never meant to grieve in silence.Dayton lives in Delaware with her Afghan Hound, Feli.
