Thoughts in the Meantime

Last night I watched the sunrise while I cried, because in that moment surely a piece of me had died

I watched as my childhood lost its sweet taste of innocence traveling into adulthood skipping all of the steps in between

Leaving me with a heart that did not know on whom it should lean

And, this morning I watched the sun set on my soul burning my insides until I had no choice but to let go as my adolescence left my body so that I could become whole

Last night I quietly sat back in the distance and watched myself turn from a young lost girl of this world to a woman and child of God...
