Sixty years ago, a strange sore on someone's face erupted in a hatch of spiders. Today, something even more terrifying has emerged...
Hikers discover the corpses of several young campers who have been mutilated in the most shocking manner. A survivor from the group is discovered wandering along a remote road in rural Blackberry County. Now, no-nonsense Sheriff's Deputy Gabriela Garcia must take charge of the investigation into these bizarre deaths. She is joined by familiar characters from this series: including Gabriela's heartthrob, Deputy Dave; her boss, Sheriff Dunning-Krueger; and mad scientist Dr. Long.
They Hatch! is a sort of modern "penny dreadful" inspired by an urban legend about face spiders and a National Geographic article which described wasps that turn their victims into zombies who will fight to protect the wasp larva that are eating them alive. The Gabriela Garcia Mysteries are gritty gory and frankly hilarious intentionally lowbrow pulp fiction that secretly kind of works on multiple levels, modern penny dreadfuls, dime store detective fiction, like a comic book with no pictures.
J.B. Livingsmore's satirical new series of horror mysteries will leave you gasping in fear... or laughter... or both!
