Elliot M. Bour has spent his career telling stories for kids - first as an animator, then as an Emmy-nominated animation director and producer, and now as an author and illustrator creating worlds of his own.His love of creating characters began long before his professional career. As a child, Elliot filled his imagination with characters of his own, including a very unusual imaginary friend named Elelitichicat - a one-of-a-kind combination of an elephant, lion, tiger, chipmunk and cat. Decades later, that childhood creation inspired his first picture book, There's Only One You, a story celebrating individuality, imagination and the wonderful things that make each of us unique.Elliot began his animation career at Walt Disney Animation Studios on the Oscar-nominated Beauty and the Beast and went on to animate on such films as Aladdin, The Lion King, Pocahontas and Mulan. He later moved into directing, serving as supervising director and co-executive producer of Disney's Elena of Avalor and as supervising director and executive producer of the Disney/Lucasfilm series Young Jedi Adventures. His work has earned him five Daytime Emmy nominations.After decades spent helping bring other people's characters and stories to life, Elliot is now bringing his own to the page. Through books including There's Only One You, the expanding world of the Amalgamals, and the Billy Nilly series, he hopes to create the same thing he has always loved most about children's entertainment: memorable characters, big adventures, lots of laughs, and stories kids want to experience again and again.
