In this science fiction series, Wolf Ballantyne's rebel heart begins to feel revulsion for all that the rebellion has made him do and experience. The pandemic apocalypse fiction and the political intrigue of the time seem tantalisingly like what alien tyrants might impose on the world but he balks at believing that it was anything other than human greed and capriciousness at play until he begins to explore the concept of astral projection and encounters Valhalla. Wolf's tech guy is keen on exploring this new potential but Wolf needs guidance that he can't give.
