Notă biografică

Dr. Douglas Edmunds, affectionately known as the "Godfather of Strongman" has a sporting background rooted in the Highland Games, having won both the Royal Braemar and SGA World Championship titles in the caber toss. Additionally, he was the Scottish National Champion in shot put, discus and weightlifting, and played international rugby. Dr. Edmunds has also been responsible for the formation of many highland games throughout the world, including in Zambia, Nigeria, Iceland, Canada, Finland, Holland, Northern Ireland, England and Scotland. He was an original founder of the International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA) and familiar to many as the ever-present referee in many previous World's Strongest Man competitions. Additionally, Dr. Edmunds worked at Drakemire Dairy Ltd. from 1982 to 2000 and retired as the managing director of milk processing. He graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1969 with a PhD, from Glasgow University in 1966 with a BS and from St. Joseph's College in 1962.
