The Useless Princess: Hralldea, cartea 2

Autor Holly Hilsabeck
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 26 iul 2026
There's always the black sheep of the family.
Aurora never identified with the title of Shanan Princess. All she ever wanted was to work her way through the military ranks: an atypical yet perfectly reasonable goal, given her situation. Not only is she behind her brother, a magical winged horse, in the line of succession, but their father the king is a practically immortal wizard content to let her pursue her own path.
That is, until her father summons her one day, explaining that she could be their last desperate hope against the dragons should he die. And against all logic, he is dying. The problem is, Aurora hasn't inherited his magic, and now she's expected to take responsibility for dozens of ancient, ruinous beasts on the impossible chance that her power should manifest late.
When the worst happens and dragons begin to awaken, it is up to her to confront with swords what she can't subdue with a wand. Alongside her stern but loyal vassal, she eagerly leads a company of soldiers into battle. However, the ranks also include Daigen, an irritating rival she just can't help but keep within arm's reach. As Aurora uncovers a disturbing mystery and fights feelings as well as foes, she seeks to honour her father's wishes and finally become something more than useless.

Notă biografică

Holly Hilsabeck adores the fantastical, psychological, and the incredibly silly. Foremost a Christian author, she strives to imbue her stories with truth and wonder for the Living God. Her experience as a former non-believer transformed by Jesus lends both satirical wit and deep compassion to her writing. She seeks to make a seat at her table for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
Against His Best Wishes, The Wizard of Water is Hilsabeck's debut novel, although she has published short stories and poems in the anthology Page to Page and Burman University's Campus Connections. Her passion for her craft stems from childhood and inspired the pursuit of a Bachelor of Arts in English, which she obtained in 2021.
Born, raised, and still living in Central Alberta, she holds a great love for her community and the pastoral rolling plains. Some of her hobbies include volunteering with youth, handicrafts, and gardening (mostly the part where she gets to stare at the flowers).
