The Tithonian Biosphere Tom had kept a watchful eye on the prairie and saw the allosaurus as soon as it reared up. He had been sure to give himself enough space to make it back to the safety of his tree and turned to run back. As soon as he had turned to run, he stopped dead in his tracks. The second allosaurus had come up from behind him and was now moving into a position between Tom and the tree. It had silently worked its way there to prevent his escape. It rose up to its full height and then tilted its head down and stared at Tom. Its mouth was slightly open and globs of drool dropped to the ground as it anticipated its meal. There was nothing Tom could do but stare back into the cruel, beady eyes that held him frozen in their grasp. He couldn't help but wonder what the animal was thinking. Was the allosaurus smiling at him? Was it gloating that it had outsmarted him? In the Tithonian Age the Jurassic dinosaurs dominated the oceans and forests. However, a great drought forces them to gather in search of water. The scent of moisture leads them down a lava tube and into an ancient magma chamber where they survive the Great Extinction. The dinosaurs continue to evolve until they are discovered by an unsuspecting expeditionary force studying volcanic activity. A great, quick read suitable for all ages.
