A detective thriller that opens with a young woman dead and a city unwilling to care, and follows two partners who refuse to let the case go quiet. American homicide fiction with a twist ending readers won't see coming.
This Victim Was Different. He Just Couldn't Say Why.
Nate Burns, a seasoned detective, knelt beside the dead girl. This wasn't his first homicide; it wasn't even the first murdered prostitute he'd investigated. But this one bothered him. Maybe it was her youth: she looked barely into her twenties. Maybe it was that death hadn't yet robbed her of her beauty. Maybe she reminded him of his daughter, Lizzie, only a few years younger. Maybe it was something else entirely.
With almost no evidence and only vague descriptions to go on, Nate and his partner Manny Trujillo set out after the truth, wherever it leads. The case turns one way, then another. And the ending is one you'll not see coming.
The Tenth Nail is the first book in the Nate and Clare series, for readers who love hard-edged homicide investigations, loyal partnerships and endings that upend everything before them. Perfect for fans of Michael Connelly, John Sandford and Robert Crais.
