Detective Jim Diamond is attacked in his own home by unknown assailants who, he learns, were sent by a has-been entertainer with mob connections. He goes to Vegas to find out why a man he's never met wants him dead. In Vegas, the FBI is also interested in Backus and enlist Diamond's help. Action, danger, and startling plot twists lead the reader down a path of suspense.
