This is not a stand-alone book; it is the continuation of a tale begun in Part One, "Three Threads." I highly recommend that you read "Three Threads" before reading further.

An exile in the land of enemies.

Having fled from an assassination attempt on her life with little more than the clothes on her back, the young moon elf Silvantana finds herself lost on the Surface--an alien sunlit world of trees and birds and strange animals populated by peoples who would slay her on sight for the color of her skin. Her only companion is a persistent pseudodragon and her only hope is the promise of help in the form of a mysterious woman in silver, if only she can find her before she is found.

Against the backdrop of a new war erupting between the moon elves of Erevy'nelaen and the sun elves of Aer'feralys, relentlessly pursued by her own kin, Silvantana must survive long enough to decipher the secret of the three threads, master the power of her mother's fersilis and gather allies from among enemies in order to save her people from a war they cannot win.
