Every summer, a little magic shows up. This time, it arrives in a suitcase.
Eight-year-old cousins Stephen "Pie" Wilde and Ty have waited all year for their family's trip to Hawai'i - a whole summer of beaches, hiking boots, and the kind of brave you can only be together. Then an old suitcase turns up in their hotel room, and it isn't holding clothes. It opens a passage to the Isle of Noniluna, an island where joy is quietly draining away and a lost crown may be the only thing that can bring it back.
To find the crown and find their way home, careful Stephen and fearless Ty have to cross a treacherous ravine and outlast a violent storm. But the hardest part of the island isn't the island. It's learning that courage doesn't always mean going first - and that the bravest thing either cousin can do is choose the other.
Some adventures test how brave you are. This one tests whether two cousins can be a team.
Perfect for young readers who love:

• Portal adventures and hidden worlds
• Stories about cousins, siblings, and best friends
• Island and tropical settings
• Real stakes with a warm, hopeful heart
• Readers who enjoyed the Magic Tree House and Dragon Masters series

What's inside:

• 8 chapters, 98 pages - sized for newly confident chapter-book readers
• A chapter-by-chapter vocabulary list to build word confidence as the story goes
• Two distinct heroes: one cautious and careful, one fearless and quick
• Themes of courage, family loyalty, teamwork, and learning that being scared isn't the same as being a coward
• Short chapters that work equally well for independent reading and bedtime read-aloud
• No frightening content beyond adventure peril - safe for sensitive readers
• Back matter includes a "What's Real?" section, a note about the author, and a look at what's coming next

A note for parents and teachers: the Isle of Noniluna is entirely invented. While the story begins in Hawai'i, it does not draw on or depict Native Hawaiian traditions, mo'olelo, or cultural practices, and the included "What's Real?" section helps young readers tell the difference between the real place and the imagined one.
