After an unseasonable bushfire causes the evacuation of the small town of Spring Flat in the Southern Flinders Ranges of South Australia, Detective Chief Inspector George Washington is called to investigate the discovery of a body in a farm shed. As he searches for clues he finds a thread that leads him to the web of a ruthless criminal gang called The Spiders.
