Written with the intention of being performed for a blindfolded audience, The Shapeshifter is a riveting drama about the depths of the human psyche and the uncertainty that comes with romantic relationships. The story follows hypnotherapist Vanessa Whitner and self-immolator Locke Clery who have entered into a strange and unconventional romance. Locke agrees to let Vanessa poke around in his head and figure out why he suffers from acute anxiety and self-destructive behaviors. Under hypnosis, he confronts a series of archetypes, one of whom is a siren with soulless eyes, a shapeshifter whose intentions are unseen and unpredictable.
