"Dan Baillie's writing doesn't just evoke fear, it's chilling on so many levels."-Justin Soderberg, Capes & Tights
Welcome to seven immersive nightmares where every refuge has its own rules... and learning them may come too late.
My sister found a hand-drawn map of our uncle's lake house. It includes rooms of secrets and death.
My last shift at a scam call center had one rule: never answer a call from 777728266. Tonight, the number appeared on my screen.
I'm staying with an exchange family in an isolated Japanese village. They told me never to enter the grandparents' room.
I checked into a "medication vacation" resort where patients stop taking their medication. The staff smile constantly. But none of them blink.
The Rules Are Different Here collects dark, escalating tales of forbidden rooms, impossible calls, hidden places, and welcoming strangers who know far more than they admit. From remote villages and deep rainforest to quiet care homes and windowless apartments, every setting has a secret logic of its own.
Pay attention to the warnings and follow the rules. They may be the only things keeping you alive.
