Cara Andre has spent decades making sure no one knows exactly who she is. Not even the people she loves most.
Cara has built a life that looks remarkably ordinary: a successful design and construction firm, a devoted husband, teenage twins, close friends, and a home in suburban Ohio. She's a wife, mother, business owner-and, when sufficiently caffeinated, a mostly functional adult.
She is also a former covert operative whose existence once inspired whispers in intelligence circles.
The Reflex.
Cara left that life behind years ago. Or so she thought.
When a bizarre series of coincidences begins resurrecting pieces of a past she carefully buried, Cara is pulled back toward Washington and Connor "White Knight" Reed, her best friend and former CIA handler. What begins as an unsettling puzzle quickly becomes something far more dangerous, forcing Cara to confront old enemies, hidden identities, and secrets that reach much closer to home than she ever imagined.
Because Cara isn't the only one who's been lying.
As decades of deception begin to unravel, the people she trusts most are forced to reveal truths of their own. But some of what Cara discovers can't be explained by espionage, tradecraft, or betrayal. Something stranger is happening to Cara, to the people around her, and perhaps to the very instincts that once made her so dangerous.
Now she must determine which threats are real, which assumptions are wrong, and whom she can trust when even her own perception may no longer be reliable.
Blending psychological suspense, espionage, dark humor, complicated relationships, and an unexpected preternatural turn, The Reflex is a character-driven thriller about secrets, loyalty, family-and what happens when an extraordinary past comes crashing into an ordinary life.
Pay attention. The details that seem irrelevant usually aren't.
