The Redacted Kids: Melissa Sweeney

Evie and Jakob have lived their entire lives inside the Helix Institute, a secret program funded by the third World War to breed genetically modified humans. Locked away from society for 20 years, these two cousins have grown up stunted and afraid of their own shadows.

But after their best friend, Yuri, is kidnapped by two masked assailants, they're mistakenly separated from their home and thrown into the new, holographic country of the Empire of New York. They're lost, confused, and scared out of their wits, but as they explore this foreign city they've grown up in, they're certain of one thing: They need to find Yuri, whatever the cost.

With the help of a now untrustworthy scientist and her rebellious daughter, Evie and Jakob risk their valuable lives to uncover the truths about where Yuri went and why they were never meant to leave their institute in the first place.
