this book so so good. its about how there is a pang of absolute terror in those moments of ecstasy that flower before us like so many brilliant spring blooms; those moments of caprice and derision that come upon us with such force as to expose, in their flowering, both the highest heights of vitality and the shadow of their own inevitable death. its also a bomb book about the English countryside and how it changes during industrialization.
