Victor Tanasa a dat nota:
I was so close to giving up on this. The book starts with Bel, the con man, assembling a group of misfits to help him pull off an audacious heist, Ocean's 11 style. It felt a bit by the numbers and I wasn't surprised when all of them agreed to join in. This part was sprinkled with fragments of world-building and characterisation, but too little for my tastes and by the hundredth page I wasn't sure I cared about all these characters. But after the gang got together, things started improving fast. Motivations were discussed, you got to learn more about the different factions inhabiting Künsken's universe, the plan and its implications are revealed. From there till the end it was great fun. The author clearly possesses a vast imagination. The way he constructed the different races of mankind was really well done, as were the the Quantum's man abilities. Although they stem from real science but then quickly venture into fantasy territory, that wasn't an issue at all, as they were interesting and used well. Excellent for a debut novel.
