The PhD and Beyond: Doctoral Life, Community, and Humanities and Social Sciences Academic Careers in Australia: Documenta Coranica, cartea 14

Carly Steele, Julian Chen
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 17 dec 2026
What do doctoral students really need to know—but are rarely told—about the ins and outs of academic life? Originating from an Australian Higher Degree by Research symposium, this edited volume brings together doctoral candidates, early career researchers, supervisors, and journal editors to share candid, first hand narratives of the doctoral journey and what lies beyond the thesis. Written in an accessible, first person style, the chapters address publishing, wellbeing, networking, public engagement, career planning, and academic leadership within the humanities and social sciences. Grounded in community building, collegiality, and lived experience, the book offers practical guidance and reassurance to those navigating the often solitary and opaque world of doctoral education in Australia and beyond.
