Mary Beard is a professor of classics at Cambridge and is a fellow of Newnham College. Her hugely successful blog for The Times has been collected in a book It's a Don's Life, which is also published by Profile. She is general editor of the Wonders of the World series and author of the award winning and best-selling Pompeii.
