A story that begins in early childhood with lots of laughter and poignant memories, with disturbing incidents after Hitler's ascent to power. The father's dislike of Hitler and his refusal to join the Nazi Party took the family into a spiraling decline. The author's love story with an "unknown" soldier and the loss of that love. When you read this book it will make you smile at times and sometimes will bring tears to your eyes.
