When a prostitute is found murdered in the fancy Midtown district of Sankt City, Detective Ben Carter, recently estranged from his wife of twelve years and from his job with the San Francisco police force, is sent to investigate. But when a second woman is killed with the same gun, Ben starts to wonder whether he is on the trail of an evil genius.
