The Map Gap: MindNavigator
Autor Ami Cooken Limba Engleză Paperback – 10 sep 2026
This disconnect is the Map Gap.
It is the hidden operating system behind stress, overthinking, defensiveness, and many of the patterns that keep capable people stuck. When a small setback feels catastrophic, an executive overworks to prove their worth, or a leader struggles to delegate because being needed has become part of their identity, they aren't stuck in their life-they are stuck in their map.
In The Map Gap, performance coach and therapist Ami Cook introduces a practical, visual toolkit for mental cartography. Drawing on psychology, neuroscience, systems thinking, and contemplative traditions, she provides a clear, step-by-step framework to help you recognise the map you are living inside, notice when it no longer fits the territory, and learn how to redraw it.
Structured around three developmental stages, you will learn how to:
Stage I: Awareness (Seeing the Map)
Acquire the cartographer's toolkit needed to see how your map is formed-and where it has drifted out of alignment with reality.
Stage II: Attention (Navigating the Map)
Learn to direct your attention deliberately, shifting from reactive focus to active navigation.
Stage III: Accountability (Owning the Map)
Take responsibility for your operating system and become the conscious author of your experience.
You do not need a different life. You need a better map.
Combining psychological depth with practical accessibility, The Map Gap offers a powerful framework for understanding yourself, strengthening your relationships, and making wiser choices. Whether you're leading a team, navigating uncertainty, or simply trying to make sense of your own experience, this book will help you close the gap between the map in your mind and the territory of your life.

Notă biografică
Ami Cook is a professional coach, counsellor, and corporate consultant with over a decade of experience in human transformation, cognitive and systems thinking, and behavioural dynamics. She helps individuals and organisations navigate complexity with greater clarity, adaptability, and effectiveness. After a successful career in business transformation, a pivotal event in 2011 shifted her focus from changing organisations to understanding how people make meaning. She went from trans- forming businesses to transforming the people within them. In 2017, this passion led her to launch MindNavigator(R), an award- winning leadership framework and development approach now used by founders, CEOs, and high performers across multiple disciplines, including elite sport. Having featured in the Advanced MBA programme at the University of Technology Sydney and backed by thousands of coaching hours, the MindNavigator(R) system integrates neuro- science, psychology, systems thinking, and Eastern and Western contemplative traditions into a practical method for navigating complexity in real time. The Map Gap is its first full expression in book form. Ami holds bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as profes- sional qualifications in coaching, counselling, and therapeutic modalities. She is a sought-after speaker on mental agility, self- leadership, accountability, and performing under pressure. Originally from the United Kingdom, Ami lives in Sydney, Australia, with her husband, three children, and two very exuberant dogs. Learn more about her work at www.mindnavigator.com
