Steven N. Byers has a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of New Mexico (UNM), USA. Now retired, he worked for a number of years on various campuses of UNM, and currently serves on the Anthropology Consensus Body and Odontology Consensus Body of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Standards Board.
