Notă biografică
Professor Sunil Thomas is a Research Professor at the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, where he leads interdisciplinary work spanning cell biology, microbiology, and translational medicine. His research focuses on next-generation immunotherapies for chronic conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease and Alzheimer’s disease, with particular emphasis on how the human microbiome influences disease progression and treatment response.
Over his career, he has contributed to infectious disease research, vaccine development, and viral structural biology, helping
advance diagnostics, therapeutics, and preventive strategies. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from
Cochin University of Science and Technology in India and completed postdoctoral training at the Mount Sinai School of
Medicine. He has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to books on vaccines and infectious diseases, and
holds multiple patents.
Over his career, he has contributed to infectious disease research, vaccine development, and viral structural biology, helping
advance diagnostics, therapeutics, and preventive strategies. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from
Cochin University of Science and Technology in India and completed postdoctoral training at the Mount Sinai School of

Descriere
The relationship between humans and their resident microbiomes is complex and influences many aspects of health and disease. Diabetes, obesity, food allergies and many other conditions can be ameliorated by microbiomes. This volume includes chapters devoted to the myriad aspects of the microbiome of humans.
