Tor, a gentle, kindhearted miffit, finds himself shipwrecked off the shore of an unknown realm inhabited by dwarves, elves, bakru, and a sage or two. Although he has been christened a helot by Baruch, Lord of Realms, he wonders, "Was I really sent to save Thrude from some evil?" Desiring to rule the realm and make Baruch suffer, the Tarnished Seraph is determined to destroy the helot. As a result, Tor is drawn into unwanted adventures fraught with danger. While struggling with fear, weakness and inadequacy, he displays self-sacrifice, faith, and faithfulness.
