North America, circa 2350 Student #5411 lives in city XD-13, and he is taught that years of environmental degradation, war, and death reduced the human population to only those lucky enough to live in XD-13. Cared for by the benevolent State, Student #5411 and those like him live lives entirely controlled by the dictates of those in power. His mind is haunted by forbidden thoughts - questions about what lies outside the walled city; desire for his classmate, Student #5502; and a nagging sense that everything he's ever been taught is a lie. And that was before he figured out he could make plants grow with a touch of his hands.
