To help trace his past, a young man searches for a possession which belonged to his grandfather and becomes involved in a mystery surrounding a diamond, death threats and stolen movie film. Are these events linked? Do they provide clues to the way people have conducted their lives? The wheel turns, and the young man's hunt uncovers a myriad of happenings which occur over fifty years and culminate in a dramatic and unexpected climax.
