It was a massive vessel, especially compared to the dories and skipjacks that were usually tied up to the wharf. It had slipped into port under a full moon and a higher than normal tide for this time of year. Any other time, her draft wouldn't have let her over the shoals that clogged the little harbor. Dark gray, with reefed tanbark sails, she was ghostly in appearance and just as spectral in her approach. She had come in with no lights and no one on deck.
