For Nal, a young man from the isolated Solum Village, this rule becomes vital for his survival when he accidentally frees Malazar, a fallen Angelus who desires to remake all existence. Desperate to fix his mistake, Nal must restore the sole weapon that can defeat Malazar:

The Angelus Sword.

But its power is split into five corrupted shards, and each one he and his companions gain will further corrupt their souls.

Guided by the hermit-sage Magnor, he journeys towards the theocracy of Duesla, where its ruler Pope Dolosus uses one of the shards to prove his divinity. Meanwhile, his older brother Damien and their friends Andrena and Felix are drawn into a rebellion as Malazar's empire encroaches.

As the world falls into chaos, one truth becomes clear: if the nations of Statera fail to unite, then the story of Nal and company will not be another tragic chapter in history, but the final chapter of all life.
