Having been born in the Pinyudo refugee camp, which is located on the border of South Sudan and Western Ethiopia, Nyabuoy Gatbel brings forth a fresh perspective to everyday discourse surrounding refugee experience. The Fire Within is Gatbel's debut poetry-book where she tackles issues of race, gender, war, genocide, sexual and physical violence head on in a candid, unrestrained voice.
