Cambridge, 1895. A frozen river and a fall that changes everything.
When Virginia, daughter of famed American soprano Rosanna Bailey, tumbles on the ice of the frozen River Cam, she is steadied by photographer's assistant Charlie Meadows. Their meeting is brief, yet unforgettable. Charlie is shy, and Virginia's life is already too full.
As Rosanna's performances dazzle snowbound Cambridge society, Virginia and Charlie begin to form an unexpected bond. But Rosanna's sudden summons to replace a leading soprano in a career-defining performance threatens to part them for good.
Meanwhile, in Paradise Place, the Venables sisters set themselves the impossible task of raising funds for a trip to the opera, while also unravelling the romantic tangle of a cellist, his furious fiancée, and a lady he once met on a train. Blossom the cat, of course, is determined to help.
From the quiet winter streets of Cambridge to the roar of a Covent Garden audience, The Diva's Daughter is a tender, atmospheric Victorian romance about love, loyalty and daring to take centre stage in your own life.
