In Restoration England, fear is a political weapon.
Oliver Plunkett, Catholic archbishop of Armagh and primate of Ireland, wants only to restore order to a fractured Church and protect his people from persecution. But when the hysteria of the Popish Plot spreads from London into Ireland, rumor hardens into testimony, enemies become witnesses, and an innocent bishop is drawn into a machinery of power that demands a victim.
Based on actual events, The Devil's Grandson follows Plunkett from Rome and Ireland to Westminster Hall and Tyburn, tracing a world of religious hatred, political ambition, false evidence, and moral courage. At its center is one man's refusal to purchase his life with a lie.
