‘The Murders in the Rue Morgue' by Edgar Allan Poe is as the first true detective story in genre terms. The French detective Auguste Dupin, an amateur sleuth took the world by storm. Dupin thought like the criminal and used methods of deduction to reconstruct the crime and solve it.
