The Clockwork Menagerie: Frances Lincoln Children's Books

From the bestselling Fan Brothers, this is a sweeping, timely and inspirational tale that celebrates the importance of the natural world and caring for our planet – one small act at a time.

On a fine, smoggy day, scientists from far and wide come together to announce that, soon, the skies, the seas and all the lands will be empty of life. Last to speak, the smooth-talking clockmaker unveils his Great Project: he proposes to build a Clockwork Menagerie . . . Mechanical animals that will clean the air and the soil, and replace all of the creatures that have been lost.

Work begins at once and before long, the clockwork animals are unveiled to much fanfare. The Menagerie is impeccable! Irrepressible! Incontestable! The clockmaker has thought of everything. Well . . . almost everything.

When the Great Project fails, all hope is lost – until something completely unexpected leads the clockmaker to the studio of his young apprentice, where he is nurturing something very special of his own.

Featuring magnificent fold-out pages, this is a beautifully produced story about the power of the natural world and human creativity (when focused on the right priorities!).
