The Christmas Feast: Austin Macauley

Have you ever let animals in your house? I don't mean spiders or moths; I mean wild animals like foxes or hedgehogs. I know a man who did just that, one very cold Christmas Eve.

This man loves nature. He learnt about animal tracks. He learnt about trees and the wildlife that uses them. Not only to live in but also for food, seeds and nuts.

We are surrounded by technology. In itself not a bad thing, but it can't beat finding the traces of a deer in the mud, or hedgehog poo or putting the name to a tree when you find its leaf or just standing and listening to the bird song.

You can find nature in your own back garden at any time of year. Just open your eyes and ears. That's what the man in this story did. He - oops! I almost gave it away.
