The Chameleon

Autor Jackie L. Smith
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 25 noi 2019
Her only goal was to become an FBI Profiler. Born with an extremely high intelligence, coupled with an uncanny ability to "read" people, it was a perfect fit. Right from the beginning, fate pushed her professional life into links with her personal one. Her lawyer-financée was murdered, her first real assignment was a multiple family homicide and she, herself, was attacked and assaulted. None of these events deterred her from her chosen career, and when she and her partner were assigned a kidnapping turned murder in the frigid Montana landscape, she knew immediately this would become the case of a lifetime. No story is complete without a little romance, and when her FBI agent partner begins to trust her professionally, a new relationship begins to develop between them. The story leads the reader through her unusual childhood and preparation for what others might consider a look into the dark side of life chasing monsters. This is a "stay awake all night" reading. Prepare for an exciting journey.

Notă biografică

Jackie L. Smith - known to most as Jack - is a retired United States Navy veteran whose service spanned two decades, from 1959 to 1979. He went to sea aboard aircraft carriers, crossed the Atlantic for hunter-killer training with the Sixth Fleet, served with helicopter squadrons, and traveled to ports from Boston to Quebec City to the Mediterranean. While on active duty he earned a bachelor's degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu and later a master's degree from Central Michigan University. After retiring from the Navy he spent eight years running a specialized hospital for the State of Oklahoma, then served another twenty years as a civilian with the United States Air Force, retiring in 2009 after more than four decades of public service. He began writing novels in his eighties. What started as a single book has become ten - thrillers, family crime stories, time-travel adventures, and portal fantasies. His novels draw on the institutional life he knew firsthand: the chains of command, the loyalty between brothers in arms, the quiet weight of doing the right thing when it costs you something. He writes about ordinary people who get pulled into extraordinary trouble, and the kind of stubborn integrity that gets a man through it.Jack lives in Staffordsville, Kentucky. He collects stamps, repairs computers, plays a lot of FreeCell, and believes every good story needs a dog in it.
