Alice Parker, author of the popular “Dispatches from the Boy Aquarium” column, hates the Toronto Timbers’ star centre Noah Wright. She never misses a chance to critique him, though she would say it’s just good journalism. She can’t mention his hat trick and ignore the pass he fumbled, or that he was seen the night before with yet another new girl. Her criticism has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that when they crossed paths at their US college, he ghosted her and made her miss out on a dream internship. But that’s all in the past; now, Alice is focused on getting a long overdue promotion.

Noah Wright has one goal for this NHL season: make captain. Maybe if he does, he’ll finally measure up to his brother, who plays for the Montreal Titans, and be seen by the world as a leader rather than a playboy. But when Noah is embroiled in a media scandal, his coach gives him an ultimatum: clean up your image or wave the “C” goodbye.

Noah knows Alice isn’t a fan, but he’s desperate enough for good press to ask her for a favour.
