In melodic verse using occasional rhyme Sawyer's The Blue Butterfly examines the malady of our present condition with wry humor, irony, and literary allusion that will keep you wondering what is lurking in every next line. Sawyer riffs off the reader's perceptions of what poetry can do and sometimes does so with a glittering malice. These poems provide a sensual and amorous dreamscape that is equal parts autobiography and escapist fantasy.
