The Blower Prophet
Autor Doug Burschen Limba Engleză Paperback – 14 sep 2026
Robert designs graffiti-inducing products. The more they're vandalized, the more money he makes. Disillusioned with his absurd job and sad about his aimless life, he embarks on a poorly planned, covert, self-improvement journey that goes terribly, hilariously wrong.
On his quest, Robert encounters individuals such as Cindy Starlight, a nosy mystical soothsayer; Dr. Elaine Gipsell, a consistently boring dietician; Professor Kaisle, a hypercritical adult learning painting instructor; and Mildred Fern, an effusively kind elderly widow with a propensity for painting extremely accurate male genitalia.
As Robert attempts to solve his sadness, he creates unintended family conflict and discovers that his habit of predicting the worst outcomes in life has kept him from enjoying the best parts of life.
"A heartfelt, humorous story about sadness."
This is Doug Bursch's third book, but his first work of fiction. He's spent much of his life talking about the big issues of existence: why we gather in community, why we fight so much online, and why we exist. In The Blower Prophet, Doug focuses on the simple, often humorous, universal struggles that make each of us human.

Notă biografică
Doug Bursch has lived most of his life anywhere between 40 to 90 minutes south of Seattle, depending upon traffic. He's madly in love with his wife, Jennifer, and thoroughly impressed with his four adult children and their families. He honestly feels like the least talented of the bunch. Doug pastored full-time for 24 years, but now pastors part-time in a loving, accepting, and tolerant Lutheran church. The Blower Prophet is Doug's third book but his first book of fiction. When he's not writing, he's talking, sometimes to large groups of people, frequently to himself. He is relentlessly inconsistent in creating content for his website (fairlyspiritual.org) and his podcast (the Fairly Spiritual Show). When he isn't creating, he's visiting his adult children and their families, exploring the Pacific Northwest, or waiting like a puppy for his wife to come home from work to play with him. As a dyslexic, he is profoundly thankful for anyone who takes the time to read and engage with what he has written. And yes, like the protagonist of The Blower Prophet, he sometimes struggles with sadness. Even so, he is very happy to be alive, doing what he loves.
