Notă biografică

JEFFREY L. DISHNER, NCARB, is the principal and founder of Craft Architecture, a custom residentialpractice with offices in Greenville, South Carolina, and Asheville, North Carolina. For thirty-six years he hasdesigned homes across the Southern Appalachian region, on the steep mountain sites and lake propertiesof private communities that include the Cliffs at Keowee Springs, and The Reserve at Lake Keowee in SouthCarolina and The Cliffs at Wanut Cove and the Ramble near Asheville, and in Cashiers, North Carolina.A graduate of Clemson University, where he earned both his undergraduate degree in design and his Masterof Architecture, Jeff came to the profession by way of the building trades. His father was a builder, and thesummers and vacations Jeff spent on jobsites shaped an approach to architecture grounded as much in craftand construction as in design theory. That foundation informs everything about his practice, from the wayhe details a roof connection to the respect he brings to his relationships with builders. He designs in the traditions he loves, drawing on the principles of classical design from Vitruvius and Palladio and the masteryof Lutyens and Voysey, adapted to the materials and character of the mountains where he works. He is known for presenting hisdesigns as hand drawings, a practice he considers inseparable from the collaborative spirit he describes throughout this book.Jeff works closely with a small number of families each year, a deliberate choice that allows him to remain personally present fromthe first walk on a client's land through the final turn of the key. This is his first book. He lives in Greenville, South Carolina.
