The greatest prison ever created doesn't have walls. It has upgrades. The climate has collapsed. Humanity has retreated into Altrex, a fully immersive virtual society where every purchase delivers a euphoric neural rush.
Darren is one bad day away from becoming homeless. Like billions of others, he depends on Altrex for work, community, and the promise of a better life.
Then he meets Becky, who shows Darren a world beyond Altrex. She asks him a dangerous question:
What if Altrex is a cage, not a refuge?
Pulled into an underground movement determined to break Altrex's grip, Darren must choose between the comfortable illusion everyone depends on and the terrifying freedom of the real world. If he succeeds, he'll face one final question:
Is a broken world still worth saving?
Perfect for fans of Snow Crash and Ready Player One, The Altrex Refuge is a gripping dystopian novella about engineered addiction, authentic connection, and the price of choosing reality over comfort.
