Terrae Nullius: Selected Geographies 2001-2021

Autor William L. Fox
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 30 mar 2027 – vârsta ani
The Alaska Pipeline becomes a line of poetry, a line in the land—the beginning of an epic and the end of an era. A map in the Antarctic becomes the ground beneath the reader’s feet, erasing itself with every step. A monk in a monastery beneath Mount Everest writes a prayer as the mountain traces a contrail across the upper atmosphere, inscribing a path to be followed.
In each place, William L. Fox reveals how the world leaves its mark on us—and how, through language, we move toward a sense of belonging. His spare, minimalist poems inhabit the planet’s wide empty spaces: Nevada’s Great Basin, the Antarctic and Arctic, the red deserts of interior Australia, the immense playas of Chile’s Atacama, and beyond. Between and within these lines, the poems explore how land becomes landscape, how terrain becomes territory, and how meaning is made.

Recenzii

“William Fox’s Terra Nullius reads like an atlas of unknown lands—places we might turn to were it not such a noisy time. These poems are coordinates of reflection that bend in and out of our awareness of this place we live on. This book is the culmination of a lifetime spent working at a definition for living with the geography of isolation. Fox will take the reader far from here to the threshold of standing in these places.”
Shaun T. Griffin, Nevada State Poet Laureate (2024–2026), author of No Charity in the Wilderness: Poems
Using spare lines and precise turns of language, this book holds a jeweler’s loupe up to the universe. It celebrates the specificity of place while helping reveal the interconnectedness of all terrain, all geography. If they ever offer an Artist in Residency on the International Space Station, I nominate Bill Fox to go first.”
Charles Hood, author of South x South and Partially Excited State
