Teaching Faculty How to Use Technology
Autor Rhonda M Epper, Tony Batesen Limba Engleză Hardback – 30 aug 2001
Teaching Faculty How to Use Technology covers the critical developments in the use of technology for college teaching in North America and worldwide. Despite the huge investments in campus network infrastructures, the most daunting challenge in implementing technology in college teaching is the training of faculty in the use of these new technologies. Key challenges for this critical task are discussed, including such issues as funding, technical and pedagogical training/support, organizational structures, reward systems, workload issues, multi-institutional collaboration, collective bargaining, and intellectual property.
The case studies and analysis in this book address the ways in which higher education institutions are responding to the growing demand for faculty support in the use of instructional technology. The cases were selected from a group of more than 100 institutions that participated in a study conducted by the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) and the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC). The stories of several institutions deep in the trenches of faculty development programs are examined with an eye not just to their successes, but also to their missteps and how they have overcome the biggest challenges to helping faculty integrate technology into teaching.
