This is my true story about the struggle my family and I had to endure during my youngest son's fight to overcome Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Anthony had a great determination to fight his disease. He also had outpouring care and love for us, as well as for all the other patients, nurses, etc. on his floor. Anthony would not allow the doctors to tell us how seriously sick he truly was, he wanted to spare us the pain and anguish as long as he could. My husband and I already knew how sick he was and were scared. The devastation in our hearts is still there, and it will always be there. When Anthony felt a little better he would talk to the kids on his floor, he loved playing with them. He also played games with his father and brothers. Our lives only dealt with Anthony, we had no idea what was going on in the outside world we were consumed with our son. It was hard to get back to the so called normal life, I felt like time stood still for us. We had our other children and we had to be there for them. Thank God they were there for us. We never stop celebrating Anthony's birthday.
